Moral or immoral ?????????

January 4, 2010 at 10:58 pm 31 comments

If a male and female stay in a house \room\office for few hours together. Then is that considered as immoral traffic? If it is yes then many of us can’t even count how many times we did this ‘immoral’. The recent controversy\hot news at Kerala prompts me to think about this. Though the police arrested them(AICC member raj mohan unnithan and the lady, who is a Seva Dal worker) under the charges of immoral trafficking, even after almost two weeks neither the medical report nor the officials confirm they did it. Past few days, some newspapers and channels were literally ‘celebrating’ this ‘hot news’ and flashing the snaps and videos of accused frequently. Some media even didn’t show the basic decency for blurring the accused lady’s image, before showing it out to public. I’m neither a supporter of Rajmohan Unnithan nor trying to support him or trying to glorify immoral trafficking. But my question is if they come out with a clean chit later, who will pay for the mental trauma they faced. Will these so called Medias restore the honour of that lady??? .I don’t know. It is a sad fact that, for the sake of TRP’s and cheap publicity our Medias are mindlessly and ‘creatively’ deforming the news. Yesterday I read an article that cpm made him a scapegoat for curbing the rising popularity of congress in Kerala (anyways that is a big joke). So my question is in the court if they admit that they had consensual sex, then what is going to happen? (As both of them are not minors, I guess court will send them free).Such a wastage of time and energy. These so called Medias could have used that time for airing something better. I’m against all sex tourism\trade, sex trafficking, high tech prostitution and all. Yeah for forming a good culture, better society it is the duty of media(not only media but also officials , civilians etc) to expose it and curb it from the root .But that doesn’t mean to go after some silly cheap news and deform it and feed them with unnecessary masalas and wasting there precious time .Don’t know what to say

    How well said!

Thought I dont have an inch of sympathy for the Unnithan man, the case is void. Two adults travelling or living together is no crime in India. It was a political play and Unnithan fell into the trap. But yeah, a masala story for the media which heated things up for a while… served the purpose..

lol 🙂 …even i think unnithan fell into the trap.Seems he was caught by CPM and PDP workers from that house.
For we mallus politics are like alcohol…..May be thats the reason why media heated this thing up and carried it for almost 1 week

    What is high-tech prostitution?

I think it is “consensual” sex instead of conceptual sex. 🙂

I agree with you, Anish. It was one of the most irresponsible piece of reporting in recent times. I fail to see the point of it. Rajmohan Unnithan does not even hold a sensitive govt. post or something that could be compromised by such behavior. It was quite unnecessary to make such a bid deal of it. And I am so not a Congress or Unnithan sympathizer.

I have been ranting on this topic for long but am yet to see any improvement!!! But yes I can see things going worsening!!!

You know few months back a man had been released, freed & acquitted off the chrages of raping her daughter! He was in jail for 5+ years, was convicted by the media there n then. The truth that came out was that since he had not allowed her daughter to party she falsely implicated him!! Now when the truth came out the news was on 5th-6th page!! Why? Will he get the respect back? Nah!

Our media doesn’t believe in checking out facts, it believes in Me First concept!!! They know that audience is fool & have limited memory!!!

Guess Anish it was something like this.. “than kuzhicha kuzhiyil than thanne veenu”… for politicians like Unnithan who is always given voice by this same media, this was the untimate fall..

Let us all hope for a better media and viewers 🙂 too…

I think the bigger point you are trying to make here is the way Media works in the present world. I truly agree with you – Media can make and break people! There is nothing called ethics in media industry any more. Any news that catches the eye balls, the media guys are all in all for it.

An alligention comes, and no investigation is done and the media already tags and labels them. I guess this is really misuse and abuse of ‘freedom of speech’.

The media hounds definitely need something better to cover. Yesterday there was a one hour special of some goddamned movie of Kalabhavan Mani. Is there really nothing better to show? Sigh!

Our media has a way of adding spice to everything. They don’t care beyond increasing their TRPs! Sad! I so wish the media would indulge in sensible and responsible reporting as opposed to scandal mongering 😦

I find our media and our police love to sensationalise any news related to any relationship between a man and a woman.
I agree with you – if it turns out “in the court if they admit that they had consensual sex, then what is going to happen?” Then I hope they take the media to court for defamation.

me : It is india, so all these things will happen and it is never gonna change 😦
